90.8% of femoral heads used in Japanese primary hip replacements last year were ceramic. 77.8% were BIOLOX®delta.
Statistics from the Japanese Society for Replacement Arthroplasty – Artificial Joint Registry Report 2024 cover primary hip replacements performed between April 2024 and March 2025. Femoral head material was documented for 92,444 of these procedures.
→ 90.8% of femoral heads were ceramic. → 77.8% were BIOLOX®delta, which is 71,951 heads. → BIOLOX®delta’s share was 77% to 81% in each of the most commonly used head sizes: 28, 32 and 36 mm. |
These figures show how often a material was chosen. They also show consistency. Surgeons and implant manufacturers choose BIOLOX®delta across different implant systems, head sizes, and patient groups.
That choice rests on 23+ years of clinical evidence and 25+ million BIOLOX®delta components implanted worldwide.
Behind every percentage point is a surgeon who chose evidence over assumption. That is what builds Trusted Evidence – and we are grateful to every surgeon and partner who contributes to it.
